Annie van de Riet is the new president of AVAG. The appointment of Van de Riet as successor to Harm Maters was unanimously approved by the members of AVAG during the general meeting of members in the World Horti Center.
During the meeting, Harm Maters symbolically presented the new president with the gavel. "The Greenhouse technology sector has evolved in recent times into an important leading player in the Dutch horticultural cluster. Our members have not just become very innovative, they have also put themselves very prominently on the international map. We have transformed our operations from supplying a Dutch greenhouse to providing total solutions for integrated growing systems. A sector which adjusts its product all over the world to sustainable solutions, depending on the local climate and the local economy," says the departing president.
The new president will assume her role with immediate effect. Van de Riet takes over from Harm Maters, who is stepping down after 16 years in the position.
AVAG is delighted with the arrival of Annie van de Riet. "With her long experience in the agricultural world (including Productschap, The Greenery) and associations (NVM), we are sure that we have found a strong person who will help us further shape our strategy," says Bas Lagerwerf, vice-president.
Annie van de Riet thanked the members for their confidence. "In recent weeks, I've already visited several members and am very impressed by the dynamics and innovations in the sector. I'm going to work very hard for our members."
